Howard Love Memorial Scholarship

Howard Love practiced pharmacy in southern California. He was raised on a ranch in Nevada where he learned the value of hard work. As a young man during the depression, he held a host of odd jobs including building roads for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in northern California. With the onset of World War II he served in the United States Army and continued in the service of our country post war in Europe. After his time in the service he realized that his age and lack of formal education hindered his attempts to further himself. Through perseverance he earned an undergraduate degree and eventually graduated from the USC School of Pharmacy. He valued education throughout his life and believed that hard work and dedication should be the key to success. This scholarship honors his memory by providing a scholarship to a Solano Community College student who intends to apply for medical, dental, veterinary or pharmacy school. Preference will be given to students who are re-entry or veterans.
