Osher Genentech Initiative for California Community College Students

Thanks to the generosity of The Bernard Osher Foundation and Genentech, Inc., thousands of California Community College students, like you, may receive a Genentech Osher Scholarship as part of the California Community Colleges Scholarship Endowment. Mr. Osher’s vision is to “not only benefit the community college students of today but countless more for years to come.” Considered the founder of the industry, Genentech, now a member of the Roche Group, has been delivering on the promise of biotechnology for over 35 years. At Genentech, we use human genetic information to discover, develop, manufacture and commercialize medicines to treat patients with serious or life-threatening medical conditions. Today, we are among the world’s leading biotech companies, with multiple products on the market and a promising development pipeline.

To qualify for this Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:
-Must have completed 24 or more “degree applicable” semester units (or the equivalent) at the time of the initial scholarship disbursement.
-Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 or more units) during all semesters in which the award remains active.
-Must have received a CCC Board of Governor’s (BOG) Fee Waiver.
-Must be studying Life-Science and/or Biotechnology

Awards will be adjusted based on enrolled status and determined as follows:
-Full-time (12 or more units per semester) = up to $600/semester
-Three-quarter-time (9-11.99 units per semester) = up to $450/semester
-Half-time (6-8.99 units per term) = up to $300/semester

Amount of Award: Annual Awards up to $1,200 each and will be pro-rated based on enrollment.

This scholarship is a renewable scholarship and students who are awarded, are eligible for two additional consecutive years (maximum of $3,300 or three years, whichever comes first), upon successful completion of coursework, and application submission, each year funding is requested.
