Glen Gaviglio Behavioral Science Scholarship

The Glen Gaviglio Behavioral Science Scholarship was established by his family and friends. Glen graduated in 1967 from San Jose State College with degrees in sociology and geography. He taught at Solano Community College from 1967 until retiring in 2003. This scholarship honors his memory by awarding a scholarship to a student studying Behavioral Science.
Glen was a political activist in the 1960s and 70s. As some might say he was a hippie, complete with long hair and bell bottom pants and was a vocal advocate for civil rights and social justice. Glen loved intellectual conversation and political debate as is evident from his classes in sociology, social problems and other courses he taught.
Glen loved basketball. He played all through high school and some college years and eventually he made the transition from basketball player to basketball coach for youth sports. He was involved with the faculty and intramural sports at Solano College and played against the San Francisco 49er football team in a benefit for the BSU! Exercise was a high priority especially body building and construction.
Glen was well known for the 4 story, 11 room tree house he built. The house was supported by five eucalyptus trees and 19 pilings. He even taught from the Tree House in a special room that he built in order to communicate with students and friends.
