VALERO BENICIA REFINERY VETERAN’S SCHOLARSHIP

The Valero Benicia Refinery Veteran’s Scholarship was established to support veterans of the United States Armed Forces and have a military separation as Honorable, General, or Dishonorable Due To Homosexuality (prior to repeal date of December 22, 2010). You must upload your DD Form 214, Discharge papers and Separation Documents.

The scholarship recipient must be a continuing SCC student in good academic standing with a cumulative college grade point average of 2.5, or an incoming, first time college student with a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.0 or higher. The recipient must have an unmet college financial aid need, verified by the SCC Financial Aid Office.

The amount of the annual scholarship awards will be determined by the number of semester hours the student is enrolled at the conclusion of the add/drop period in the semester in which the scholarship is awarded as follows:

• Minimum of six units: $250
• 9 semester units: $500
• 12 semester units: $750
• 15 or more semester units: $1,000

In review of applications, candidates shall be evaluated based on a combination of factors including: past academic performance; number of units being taken; financial need including eligibility for additional Veterans Affairs Education Benefits; and military disability.
